Being anxious to arrive at a just solution of the amounts for which the Diplomatic and Consular Services should stand credited.
I have had under review such documents as are recorded in my office.
Your letter I have to state that no copies of the printed estimates can be found in my files for the years prior to 1853 and that the abstract Books until that date do not make any distinction between Parliamentary Grants for the service of the colony of Hongkong and this for the Diplomatic and Consular Services in China.
