I have had the honor to receive your letter No. 75 of the 11th December last, forwarding a copy of the Right Honorable the Secretary of State's despatch No. 48 of the 11 October last, together with a communication from Mr. Under Secretary Merivale to Sir G. B. Robinson dated 4th June 1858, in which reference is had to my letter to this Government of the 13th March No. 68 accompanied by a statement of the Cash Balances in the Treasury, Hongkong, on the 31st Dec 1836 and the 31st Dec 1837 - available to the services of each subsequent year exclusive of any amounts to the credit of the Diplomatic Konsular Services in China.
Mr. Merivale designates the accounts contained in the Statement alluded to, as "arranged
