the civil community has been burdened with the liability to annual expenditure for church repairs far beyond the requirements of their number resident in the Colony; it is deemed a
just claim on the part of the Trustees to request of the Colonial Government and the Military authorities pecuniary aid towards the current repairs
that the Treasurer be authorised on their behalf to memorialize His Excellency the Governor, Council, and the General in Command to this effect."

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 19th instant : His Excellency the Governor directs me to state in reply that it is not within his power to order a grant of $500 to the use of the Cathedral repair fund without a reference home. His Excellency will however cause such reference to be made and give it his cordial support.
