The Trustees of the Cathedral ask for little encouragement, after what has happened; about four- & five hundred dollars come, no doubt the finances of the Colony can ill afford it, but the whole matter of the erection of the Cathedral here from the first has been so unsatisfactory, with reference more to the past than the present, you may properly pause in recommending compliance with the request.

Can hardly be liked. As for the $500 dollar asked for, but the Honorable ... offer us no explanation, whether this will be final or not. And here to bar fully half a year may be fairly considered in dealing with the application. I suppose, considering the long delay, it is best to authorize.
