RECEIVED

AUG. 4

1858 Lord

As my medical adviser advises me to use the Waters of some German Springs before the expiration of the present month, I take the liberty of requesting through Your Lordship, that the Right Honorable Sir C. E. Bulwer Lytton, may be pleased to grant me the necessary leave of absence.

The Watering place recommended to me, Brückenau, is lying amongst the mountains, and the favorable season will expire at the end of this month; therefore, unless the indulgence now asked for will be refused me, I shall be able to return by the end of this month, and without fail.

I should suggest sending a copy of this Letter, together with a copy of the Governor's despatch 6,509, to the Lords of the Treasury.

Your Lordship's obedient Subject,

24 July

Forward to Lord B. at once
