Mr. Merimle This is the Gentleman for whose resignation I proposed to call in the Minute I read yesterday respecting the Hackney Carriages Dept at Hong Kong.

It appears that he relieves us from difficulty so far as concerned by acting qua pensioner, so that the reconstitution of the dept can proceed at once.

That his Application for a pension incl be referred to the Treasury, but that there are certain papers requisite at that dept relating shewing the age & services of the Applicant, which, if he has not got them with him, must be procured from the Colony before we can decide upon the case.
