Under these Circumstances, nothing remains for me but to submit my Case for the favorable Consideration of Her Majesty's Government requesting that having been a Contributor to the Superannuation fund, a pension may be granted me.

all of which bear testimony as to how I have discharged the various duties of my Office, of which to praise myself would be presumptuous, Still I may take the liberty to say they were onerous, requiring personal attendance, early and late in the day, besides being trying and often disagreeable, particularly in the adjustment of the frequent disputes arising between the Sailors, being subjects of almost every nation on the earth, and their Employers.
I further pray that in considering the amount of Pension which Her Majesty's Government may be pleased to allow me The Right Honorable The Secretary of State will notice that the Emoluments I received are very small Compared with those enjoyed by other functionaries in the Colony –
In conclusion I beg permission, to draw attention to the Certificate of Dr Harland the present Colonial surgeon dated 16th February 1855, which was forwarded by the Lieutenant Governor administering the Government of Hongkong, to the Right Honorable The Secretary of State for the Colonies in March 1855.
