25th May
RECEIVED MAY 27 1858.
My Lords: 73
5726. Mony Kory
I have the honor to make known to your Lordships an application to your Lordship for leave of absence from my post under the following circumstances.
After a lengthened Service in the Colony, I was induced by failure of health to apply for permission to return home. In 1853, circumstances ably prevented my departure. In 1856, at the personal request of the Governor, I withdrew my application at that time.
My renewed application in the month of February, having made proper provision for the performance of my duties on absence, I acted on the urgent advice of my medical attendant, this procured the usual leave for a period of eighteen months.
This period will expire on the 1st August next, a time when the Colony is felt to be in its greatest unhealthiness.
I am most anxious to defer my arrival in the Colony until the unhealthy season shall have passed over.
The Lord Stanley.
M. T. Principal Secretary of State to the Colonies.
