Mr. Journ called on me a day or two since and asked me to put him out of his suspense as to what he wished to know, viz., whether it was an extension of leave or an exchange with a clergyman in England. I told him plainly that it was my opinion that he would have done better by taking this matter in the first instance officially in writing, but that it was necessary to begin by furnishing full information &c as to the clergyman whom he contemplated as being his substitute.
