thro' the Colonial Office in Recember 1855 ; & the whole of the Documents necessary for their examination were not
the Colony
till
received from August and September 1857.
when the Accounts for the years 1856 and 1857 were also
received-
From the correspondence which has taken place, it is seen that Mr Rienaecher the
late Treasurer had been in a
bad state of health, that
many of
the books had been
orregularly kept that some of there books had been removed

by Mr. Rienaccker when he left the
Colony
in 1856, & that, upon the
local Sxamination
of
the
H
Accounts for 1855 + 1856, it
was discovered that sumus amounting to £ 1032. 18. 11. which had been paid into the Treasury
account of
Rents and Licenses, had
not been included in the
Treasury Cash Book and also that sums amounting to £1,516.5._ had been entered in the Cash Book as issues to the superintendency & Consulates beyond the amounts which had been. actually advanced. These
