GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby given, that a New SERIES of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

“THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE"

will, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

It is hereby notified, that His Excellency The Governor has been pleased to appoint, subject to Her Majesty's approval, ANDREW LYSAGHT INGLIS, Esquire, Governor of the Gaol at Victoria, in the Colony of Hongkong.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that, at a Meeting of the Executive Council held on the 7th instant, ANDREW LYSAGHT INGLIS, Esquire, took the necessary Oaths, and was declared a Justice of the Peace for the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

FREDERICK HENRY Alexander ForTH, Esquire, having reported his arrival in the Colony, is, by virtue of a Warrant under Her Majesty's Signet and Sign Manual, appointed Colonial Treasurer of Hongkong, in the place of ROBERT RIENANCKER, Esquire, resigned.

Mr FORTH has been sworn in as Colonial Treasurer, and will assume charge of his Department from this date.
