Immediately behind Auchterlong's Battery appears to offer the best site for a Barrack, I have marked out on the Plan a portion of the ground suitable for that purpose, in hopes that Sir J. H. Lefroy will be pleased to retain it, unsold and unoccupied, until the question of the Additional force is settled. If Sir J. H. Lefroy agrees to this, I have mentioned the transfer of the Land. It can take place as far as I am concerned once agreed.
and if the Acting Surveyor General, Captain Stuart, will meet me on the ground on the 12th, we can mark out the positions for the Boundary Stones which should be placed with as little delay as possible.
Signed J. S. Stuart
