a force of 150 sepoys and 30 European Artillerymen from Singapore, having received

information to this effect from

Mos Blundell, Governor of the Straits' Settlements, whom I have further requested to send all the troops at his disposal.

I learn however that some disturbances have arisen at Singapore, connected it is to be

feared with the state of our affairs

here, which

may

interfere with

the offer of all his available troops

made to me in a private letter

by Governor Blundell

As I propose ...

107

Despatch 1.12 of 14th instant, I have again urged

on

the

Governor General of India the

1

necessity for reinforcements but sufficient time has not elapsed for the receipt of His Lordship's reply.

There

is

of course some

obstruction in the supply of

provisions from the mainland, but as yet this has not been felt to any great extent beyond

the rise in prices.

The Mail Steamer

"Bombay" will leave for Galle at 2 P.M. this day.
