The disembodiment of my reservist having left me without occupation, and being anxious for immediate active employment I take the liberty of applying to you for a Colonial appointment which I see by the newspapers has become vacant in the office of the Chief Magistrates of Hongkong. My antecedents I conceive to have been much in the Colonial Service. And to fit me for it after having spent four years in the office of eminent London merchants
