In 1832, a reduction in the
number of the Civil Servants of the Mauritius having taken place, Mr Johnston was in consequence of his services
allowed to return to England in
order that he might be transferred from the Establishment
of the Mauritius to some other
Government Establishment in
which his official experience
might be wanted.
In 1833, a
