The wen fared with. Ur Bamommas Letter of the 17th & 29th inst. last, in which you state that he was directed to transmit to us letters from the Colonial Office, containing a copy of a despatch & dite exclosenes received from the Governor of Hong Kong, respecting a complaint of the U. States Consul in that Colony of the proceedings of the Chief Magistrate on the creasing of the arrest of the Chief Officer of the U. State ship Annie Buchman; to answer a charge of assault committed in the Harbour of Hong Kong.
Mr Hammond was also pleased to request that we would take the Papers into our consideration immediately.
