found Thadison handcuffed and fastened to a gun, matter of "meant flagging bearing" with me of his eyes and several louis blue-hued on his body.

The record-keeper requested the Chief to deliver the man up to them, which request was without difficulty complied with the next day (Sept 20) to the said Radison applied to the Magistrate, M. Mitchell, for a summons against assault, which was granted.

On the 28th the case came on for hearing before the Chief Magistrate and Justice. The American Consul, M. Krenan, was present and, both at the outset and close of the proceedings, protested against the jurisdiction, urging that such a matter was within his (the Consul's) sole jurisdiction. It was best left out to be property protected.
