we are not a little surprised that he should have instructed you to address to us that remark, far from possessing any such intrusive disposition as it seems to refer to, and certainly have we occasion for it in either our previous letters. But while we are not desirous to interfere in the remotest manner with His Excellency's Government discipline, we are very desirous that he should make us acquainted, for our information and future guidance, with the reasons which induced him to interfere with our position and privilege as Magistrates.
