Justices giving a general notice of a certain case under Ordinance 8 of 1856 coming on for adjudication at the Chief Magistracy and which Circular dated word Ultimo appears to have been forwarded to you with: " An official Complaint of its nature " by Mr Anstey :

The result of the correspondence is thus stated in your letter of 23th October to Mr. Mitchell-

These words do not reappear in my copy.

I have laid your explanation before His Excellency The Governor who "Considers that under the peculiar circumstances there is great irregularity in notifying the general body of the Magistracy, as requested by Mr's Antrobus."

His Excellency regrets that this did not occur to yourself in the first instance.

The censure of His Excellency is alike levelled at the request made by me and the accession to the same granted by the Acting Chief Magistrate.

I have respectfully to solicit of Mr Secretary that he will be so good as to favor me with a Statement of the peculiar circumstances.
