judgment on the correspondence and the subject, therein involved until the arrival of the moving Mail.
We would propose at present to reply to only one of Your Excellency's Remarks, viz., that, wherein Your Excellency states, that after having had the opportunity placed before us, by Your Excellency's reply to Our Memorial, of stating the general grounds, and nature of the objection, universally entertained to Ordinance No. of 1856, we
had neglected to avail ourselves of the same. We must assure Your Excellency that consideration on that special point arose solely from the fact that we were not authorised by the Public Meeting
to do more than present its Resolutions and Memorial which has elicited this correspondence, but should the Community at a Public Meeting, to be held, as we understand, immediately after the departure of the Mail, depute us specially to lay before Your Excellency
