Operations are now in progress at that place, and on the afternoon of the 3rd instant, while superintending the removal of some houses in the neighbourhood of the Foreign Factories, he received injuries from a falling wall so severe that in little more than two hours death ensued.
The zeal and activity of Captain Cowper have met with much approbation from Admiral Seymour, and I fear that the loss of his skill and energy will be greatly felt in the Department of the Executive Service over which he presided.
