Cowler's design has been proved both insufficient and dangerous. At Coroner's inquest on the body of a Marine drowned there a second man met the same fate shortly after and several accidents have happened; the Jury appended to their verdict a strong recommendation that a new Pier be built.
The proposed construction will be permanent, and afford all the facility required for Traffic and general purposes.
