The Gaol is even now too crowded, the number of prisoners being, as in another Despatch reported, 278.
Under these circumstances I venture to request the very earliest instructions as to the destination of the convicts, now at (see my Despatch above quoted) the Indian Government has declined to receive them in the Straits Settlements.
