My decision
" referred to me by both parties as

is that Mr. Anstey
owes a
" public expression of regret. "the Chief Justice for the language
" which he has held respecting
him :-

and informing me that,

" await my reply.
I was yesterday made aware by third parties, that the general purport of this passage has been
verbally communicated by Mr. Anstey to the Chief Justice.
Please not a moment in
replying to it now that it is
Communicated to
me.
His Excellency is not ignorant
that it is not my fault that this painful matter was not settled, as
it
" ought to have been when it was
first agitated. At that time I pointed out to His Excellency in reply to the private letter which, began our correspondence - now on the files of your office - that if honorable apology, such as I considered then tendered for the indiscretion, of which he declared me
guilty
were not accepted, it only remained
