Such a
System
as this I think
would answer its purpose
admirably.
The only other matter brought forward in these Resolutions and
Letter is the Police, a Scheme for
the
reorganization of which
has been this day
submitted to
Colonial Secretary and Minister of the Executive Council,
Colonial Secretary's office, Victoria, Hongkong, 27th October, 1856.
True Copy
(Copy)
Hongkong, 24th October 1857.
With reference to the letter under reference, from a Committee of Gentlemen
to the address of His Excellency The Governor dated the 24th Instant
I would suggest that in replying thereto the Committee should be in the first instance informed that their communication will be
forwarded to the Right Honorable The Secretary of State for the Colonies by the next mail - that the respective enactment referred to by them is Ordinance No. 5 of 1856.
