As I see it, authorizing the destruction of an entire house to which an illegal alteration or repair shall be made - This I assume to be under clause II, which really gives no such power, it extends merely to the work itself and no further; and if the work is a nuisance I see no hardship in its abatement – I would however see grievous injustice in pulling down the house to which it was attached, but I hold the Majority in error in supposing such power to be given.
I am inclined to think, that in deference to the wishes of the gentlemen signing the letter this Petition may be reconsidered by the Council, but the Council must have from the objectors some much more tangible and Specific objections than those generally stated.
