It remains for me only to lay before you copies of my correspondence with the local Government upon the occasion; and it is not unlikely that the Claim to compensation under the Ordinance of the Copyhold and other recent acts of the Legislature, at large, respecting dispensation to &c. of 1856, may throw some light on the character and Operations of the local Government.
