himself an Editor of the Hong Kong Register, and that he is suspected of communicating from time to time his assistance to that print.
If his Excellency is
unable to cause such an
inquiry to be instituted as on going
I have warned, and to admit
the public in future to the debates of the Council, a point often pressed by but in vain, I) I have only to tender my resignation,
I
hereby give notice that I shall retire
from & after the conclusion of the business now before the Council (Shipping of
Warren Ordinance and
Law
of Evidence Ordinance)
of my seat in that body. If His Excellency's decision is taken before the departure
of the present mail, I shall
feel grateful to him if a copy of this letter is forwarded to the Secretary of State : to
whom should that be
necessary,
