Nevertheless I thought it the fairer and the manlier course to submit to the trial, even this witness, all triumphant in his protectors' impunity, to give the latter an opportunity to call and examine him, if I was not.
To this end, I have reported to His Excellency from the first step taken by me, all the proceedings in this case.
