The consequence of the above Notification, Meeting of holders of Marine Lots was held on the 3 instant, the Resolutions of which we beg leave to annex.

In the statement laid before your Excellency are set forth reasons showing the end to be derived from the scheme. To these are various arguments amenable to give rise to public subversion, feeling that the foredirections named are not necessary for their convenience, while they are at variance with Private interests.

We have been deputed to approach your Excellency for the purpose of explaining more fully the views of the majority holders of Marine Lots, in the full belief and hope that the views and sentiments of those so deeply interested will be allowed due weight with your Excellency, considering the bearings of the question.

We would therefore beg merely to refer to a few of the leading objections entertained towards the proposed plan.

1st. We submit that the holders of Marine Lots are, by the terms and Spirit of their Leases, guaranteed a clear fee-franchise, and that the stipulation regarding the formation and re-claiming of Public Bunds applies solely to the ground specified by Measurements given.

2nd. We submit that the execution of the proposed plan would, in some instances, require of Leaseholders to reclaim ground fully equal to three times the size of their Original Lots, causing great difficulty, and entailing a costly expenditure on Private individuals, which was never contemplated at the time of purchase, nor does any stipulation exist which demands from them such an outlay.
