In my letter No 6 of 8th January 1856, I took the liberty of drawing attention to the desirableness of selling certain Lands at East Point, and further I beg to state: –

"And in connection with the subject

"of Land Rents, which is the main source

"of revenue, I would most respectfully draw

"your attention to the fact that several

"parties, holders of Marine Lots, have

"greatly extended their ground from which

"arrangement they derive great benefit,

"without making any additional payment of rent.

"The Lease granted for Marine Lots does

"not authorize such an extension of the

"property; and from one of the parties

"I myself understand that they could
