Memorandum of Captain Sir Edward Belcher, forming Inclosure N:3 in Lord Harding's Private Despatch of November 1843.

The position which I should prefer as the site for building, would be the Colour Peninsula, for the following reasons.

First - The anchorage enables vessels to take advantage of the point of Broune Bay, which is well sheltered from Northerly winds, independent of the expanse of ameliorated ground immediately in the vicinity of the proposed site, and to the Westward of Colour Peninsula.
