I am a partner in the firm of Messrs Lindsay & Co., a member of Hongkong; Our firm has been established here ever since the formation of the Colony. We are Marine Lot Holders: Our Lots are 2, 22, 29, 29, 30, and 300. I was present at the meetings convened in November last to consider the terms of the Government Notification of the 10th November. I concurred in the resolutions of those meetings.
In answering the First Question I assume that the work is to be done. In that case I think that it should be done exclusively by Government rather than by a number of different individuals, and because it would be better done by Government than by individuals, it would be unreasonable to expect that individuals should themselves carry out a work to which they are opposed, and which they consider injurious to their own rights of property.
