I would further note that the formation of the Tramway may encourage a movement of this kind, and if the Community could be induced to spread themselves over the surface, the general health of the Colony would be benefited, and population be attracted from the swampy parts of the Island, so little productive at present.
In fact, if there lots were built on, and I would place no obstacle in the way of their being built on substantially and ornamentally bona fide European residences, I have no doubt that they will become more popular among the Canton portion of the Mercantile Community, and induce an abandonment of Macao as a resort for Summer recreation and retreat.
