Your explanation of 15th instant has been considered by His Excellency The Governor and the Executive Council, to whom, I am directed to inform you,

it does not seem satisfactory.

I am therefore instructed by His Excellency to call on you for a further & fuller explanation,

especially with reference to the following points.

1.

What sum was actually charged to Government as extra expense on account of the Soohumpoo prisoners? 2. Whence and when sprang the innovation of allowing extra food to Convicts under W. H. Mitchell, &c?
