My Dear Chief Justice,
Can you
In reference to the communication made to me this morning, which will compel me to institute further inquiries in order to consider what steps should be taken in a matter so delicate and disagreeable, I think it is desirable for the purpose of avoiding the chance of future misunderstanding,
I should be glad if you would state in writing the heads of your complaint, of which, indeed, I took a few notes, but had not time to digest imperfect data.
Yours truly,
The Chief Justice
