Monday

May 26th, 1858.

Dear Sir John,

I am very sorry

to hear

of your recent bereavement and under ordinary circumstances should not for a moment think

of

troubling your Excellency at such time but Mr Anstey's affair

is of so urgent and pressing nature that I cannot refrain

from calling upon your Excellency to insist upon Mr Anstey giving an immediate reply to your

Excellency's letter of the 23rd instant.
