your ordinary duties you unassisted and in very short time organized and drilled an Auxiliary Police Force of more than 80 men, whose services had they been required for the defence of the Colony would doubtless have proved very valuable, and who by the mere exhibition of their efficiency have, I fully assured, done much towards the maintenance of tranquillity and the removal of the partial alarm caused by the declaration of War and the numerical prevalence of Piracy in this neighbourhood.
