relations with Liam,- by an extensive correspondence in reference to other oriental Countries; while as regards this Colony, under Government the revenue has been nearly doubled; the Population has increased from 34,039 to 73,000 Souls, the Shipping has been augmented to the extent of $158,500 Tons - while in every department there has been an extreme pressure- all entailing an increase of duties of which the Statistics of the Colony will enable you to form only an inadequate estimate.
