After supper I went on for about two li to Feng-shui Mountain, (usually on Sunday).
Ay,
I drew,
"Man,
-Muar a villager, asked a
"Mere is Thing-thir-shan"?
"That is it," said he,
"Chue here?"
On what business have you come hither? "I want to be the delil-Master Lil-he." How so? "What do you want with him?
"A-show,
I said, "I have a friend Le Rothens, who has been apprehended, and I wish to know whether he is guilty of the crime he is charged with or not. If he has not been guilty I might help him. If he is guilty, he is a friend of mine."
Said, "Jame A-her.
On this the "What do you want with me?" I said, "I am come here to distribute books, and at the same time to ask about this crime, whether my friend be guilty, or injured by others."
What I have stated agreed with what the others said, that A-Moro had been injured by Le A-Age. He also said that he himself was A-vod Athar's uncle, where parents were dead, and she had no brothers.
I went along with him to Ke-chung-
On the way, I asked him when A-show returned home, and he said - "He came home at dark on the 24th of the eleventh month, spoke about matters of business with 'Cove', and on the 26th took his wife to Foroughing." Finding the case to be thus, I asked him to go with me to Kong-thing to manage this business. He at first agreed to go, but on the morrow he said that his wife was sick, and that he could not go with me.
