The Pretor will thereupon apply to the Marshal of the Vice Admiralty Court to take charge of the ship, and Your Excellency will most likely be troubled with the further custody of her.

The Attorney General shall be instructed to look after the subsequent proceedings, and the Criminal Secretary has communicated with Mr. Gashell.

The Ship "Levant" has been seized, at the request of His Excellency The Governor, by the Naval Authorities for "Breach of the Chinese Passenger's Act 1855."

His Excellency The Rear Admiral is anxious to be relieved from the charge of her as soon as possible, and I am instructed to desire that you will place Queen's Proctor, in conjunction with yourself, in communication with the Honorable the Attorney General, and take, with all due despatch, the necessary steps for bringing the case into the Vice Admiralty Court, and placing the vessel in custody of William Goshell, Esquire,
