The Revenue collected in 1844 amounted to $4.334.12.6% Arrears due for 1843 & 44, have been collected in 1847 therefore the large. Opium Tariff abolished, and Auction Duty in 1849. & the large sums under Reimbursements & Miscellaneous Receipts in 1847. are partly Fees & Allowances recovered.
The Decrease of Revenue in 1857 is on account of Ponts remitted, fr., in consequence of the great Fire in December 1851. The large increase in 1855 is attributable to the great influx of population, European & principally Chinese, consequent on the extended Coast, ing and other Trade, and the disturbance in the Empire of China.
