I hereby certify -
1st. That the above leave was granted to commence on the 14th February 1856 and end on the 15th February 1857 on the ground of ill health, and that the medical certificate was produced of which a copy is annexed:
2nd. That Robert Rienaccker, Esqre has served the Crown for Eleven years and nine days.
3rd. That in the course of that service he has been absent on leave on two occasions, at the dates and for the terms specified below;
vix. In the year 1853 – 2 days. 1855 – 10 days.
4th. That provision has been made for execution of Robert Rienaccker, Esquire's office of Colonial Treasurer during his absence, by the appointment of a Commission consisting of the Honble. W. C. Mercer, Esqre Colonial Secretary, President, and Mr. John Hyndman, Acting Chief Clerk in the Colonial treasury, and Mr. Hugh Reinhard, Clerk to the Auditor General, Members. And that the duties of Marriage Registrar will be discharged by Mr. J. B. Power, Accountant and Clerk Deed Registry in the Surveyor General's Offices.
Note. Officers who may be under the necessity of applying to the Secretary of State for an extension of their leave of absence, are requested to annex this Document to their applications; and, in order to meet this contingency, it will be furnished to them in Duplicate.

I hereby certify that Mr. Robert Rienacker, the Colonial Treasurer, has been suffering much from severe derangement of the Digestive Organs during the past eighteen months; but since the beginning of the last hot season the symptoms have at times assumed a more aggravated form, and great loss of flesh and Strength has gradually resulted.
In addition to extensive irritation of the general mucous membrane, accompanied by the usual symptoms of "Chronic Diarrhea", with occasional febrile attacks and vomiting, the Liver has also been much disordered.
I long ago – January 1853, Dr. T. Balfour strongly urged Mr. Rienacker...
