Report Of Immigration Inquiry
The report of the IMMIGRA- TION DEPARTMENT COM- MISSION has been forwarded to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, who has given. telegraphic instructions that the report is not to be pub- lished until he has had an op- portunity of reading it, stätes a communique issued by the "Colonial Secretariat yesterday. EXPENDITURE INCURRED
At the meeting of the Finance Committee tomorrow afternoon a supplementary vote of $168 will be requested to cover expenditure incurred by the Immigration Depart- ment Commission of Inquiry on advertisements during the financial year ending Mar. 31, 1941.
GODOWNS ALTERATIONS
A sum of $24,600 was pro- vided for alterations to four godowns for use as an Immi- gration Depot. Expenditure in the year 1940-41 amounted to $18,878 leaving an unex- pended balance of $5,722 of which $2,000 only is required this year to complete the work and a re-vote is, therefore, re- quested.
OFFICE AT TAIPO The sum of $3,800 was pro- vided in 1940-41 for buildings to accommodate the Immigra- tion Office staff at Talpo, Only $2,987,81 was expended during that year and the remainder of the vote lapsed,
It is now estimated that $400, will be sufficient to complete the work and a re-vote of this amount is requested.
