1003

From the latter it will be perceived that the Bishop is ignorant of the proper official procedure, but has no wish to press further the point that arose between himself and the Bishop of Victoria.

Now, however, the question has been mooted, I shall be glad to be informed for the future guidance of the authorities of this Colony, whether the Bishop's license must be applied for by the Colonial Chaplain, and whether such license is necessary for the service of the functions confided to the Chaplain.

I have the honour to be,

with the highest respect,

Sir,

Your most Obedient,

Humble Servant,

John Bowring
