The second of Mr. Gray's proposed terms runs thus. "The Corporation
"will allow interest at the rate of 6% per annum on all sums
"deposited for one or more years certain, repayable thereafter on four
"Months' notice."
His Excellency therefore directs the Colonial Treasurer to pay into the Corporation the sum of Seventy-Two Thousand Mexican Dollars, which shall there remain for one year certain, be repayable at four Months' notice, and receive interest at 6% per annum.
Agreeably to Mr. Gray's proposition the money shall be paid tomorrow, the 12th instant.
The 11th and 12th propositions in Mr. Gray's letter are duly noted. His Excellency directs me to add that the money must be in the name of the Government of Hong Kong, and be repaid only on the order of the Governor or officer administering the Government, which order must bear the Countersignatures of the Colonial Secretary and the Colonial Treasurer, or the officer or officers duly acting on behalf of either.
