Referring to your letter of 7th January 1856, and in connection with our letter of 27th December 1855, We have the honor to forward for the information of His Excellency, The Governor, a Plan of the West Point Barrackment, which we have received instructions from the War Department to resume from the Navy.
Thanking you for your Suggestion and beg to point out that on this occasion our instructions are definite, and not in any way dependent on what the Boarding Royal Engineer may consider necessary for the defence.
