TREVERTON caused the first major upset yes-, terday, the Fourth Day of the Annual Race Carnival, when, after an exceedingly well-timed and well-ridden race, be piloted his pony, BRUTUS, in to win the LADIES' PURSE three lengths ahead of the third favourite," Springhurst. Out of 5,064 tickets sold on the "win" pari-mutuel only 345 were placed on Brutus, and 2545 were carried by Pic- Fcadilly Jim which was not even placed.
