CANDY POISONS

CHILDREN

Eight children were poisoned in Minato-ku, Kobe, when they ate candies -purchased by them at a confectionery store. It is believed that either substitutes harmful to children were used due to the shortage of sugar, or the candies, were made in a boiler containing rust.

About an hour after eating the candies, the children began to complain of pains in the stomach and when examined, it was found that they were suffering Irom some kind of food poisoning. Though two are still conaned in bed,. the others recovered some hours later.

In order to investigate fully into the case, the police have ordered the suspension of further manutse. ture by the makers of the inspected DOWN: 1, Bear; 2 Elim; 3, Mecsweets, and at the same time issued ACROSS: 2, Similar: 7, Heal; 8.)
