understood that the same shall remain for

a period of about twelve months including the term of notice.

2nd The Corporation will allow interest

at the rate of 6% per

annum on all sums

deposited for

one or more

years certain,

repayable thereafter on four months' notice.

3rd. Interest will be reckoned from the

present instant on all sums deposited

before Saturday the 18th instant; so as to admit of advice going forward to the Court of Directors of the Corporation by

the outgoing

mail.

4th. It is understood that all deposits

bearing interest shall be received and

paid in

in Mexican Dollars or in other coins at their proportionate market value; and also that sums required by the government in anticipation of

the maturity of the deposits shall, whenever practicable, be paid at a difference of interest at the rate of one

per cent per annum, but of course no absolute pledge to that effect can be given

as

such payment in anticipation might involve a serious loss to the Corporation

at certain times.

5th In

regards to what passed

in conversation respecting the allowance of interest on money at call, I regret that it is not in my power to meet His Excellency's views, but I shall be glad to render

the

government

any

service in our

power, free of any charge except for shroffage, either in the collection and disbursement of the revenue or in

any

financial operation which we

may

be able to facilitate.
